Ernest Goldsmith - Corn Merchant (K1933) and animal feed merchant.. Ernest is remembered as a dog-lover who is often called upon by residents to act as an unofficial vet for both cats and dogs. Another of his sidelines is running the roller skating rink at the pier. Skating takes place in the ballroom of the Pier Pavilion. (LM)

Roland (Roley) James Wells - Boot and Shoe Maker. He is also the town 'Mace Bearer'. Roland's son, Herbert Noel Wells, also works in the shop as well as having a part-time job as a postman.
